How to be cast in a romantic comedy

[friend asked for this story, so I’m posting it]

After college I decided to go into movies. I’m a terrible actor, but as a young, 6’ Chinese guy, I made a good human prop—also called an movie extra or background performer.

Got an agent to pimp me out and ended up on a Jeep Cherokee commercial, a Rascalz music video, and on the set of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days starting Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey.

There’s a scene in How to Lose a Guy when Matthew McConaughey is looking around the bar to find the next woman he’ll seduce. He sees a coarse blonde woman, chugging a beer. A skanky, lascivious girl, checkout out some guy.

Then he sees Kate Hudson, and is smitten.

That guy being checked out by the skanky girl?

That’s me (in blue shirt).
